Some non-US-currency auctions still show up as FP in 2.5.2
In version 2.5.2, some eBay auctions which are denominated in GPB show up in the BidWatcher window as "FP" - the bid count is not displayed, and it is impossible to snipe. Only "Buy" is available.

Greetings,
Follow-up, I have it happening for a PayPal enabled non-USD auction. They
messed with the order of the fields again. :-(
I can find a fix tomorrow (it's 2:50am and I have to be at work tomorrow
morning) but it's going to take a new release to get working for everyone.
I'll throw a beta link on this ticket when it is ready, and that should be
a lot faster than it gets to general availability.

Morgan,
Glad to hear you are a "working man".
Sorry to hear that you and your family have been ill.
Sane users expect health, family, job, sleep and other things to take priority.
And because I am selfish, I know that people code better if they get enough sleep.
Cheers.
(Anyone who thinks I just went off-topic needs to think about it for longer.)

you can snipe, if you click on the hammer icon...

Greetings,
I have a brief fix that I know has other bugs (most notably the bid count is massively wrong):
Mac OS X
Windows
Linux
It's a pre-release, so it'll warn that it's 'out of date', because the current stable version is a different version number. Ignore that for now.
It's really important that you let me know of any oddities in behavior that you see out of this pre-release version. Thank you!

Getting worse, even when using 2.5.3pre1 (eBay.de, Win XP, Java 7 Update 9). Used to be able to at least add auctions that have PayPal as payment method. Now even that doesn't always work.
I can and got used to living with the (FP) and various other problems, but they were mainly cosmetic. Not being able to add new auctions is a show-stopper to me unfortunately. Please, Morgan, keep up the good work and fix this.

Greetings,
@Yeti88 - I need item numbers. Please give a few, preferably ending one or
more days away, that are having problems.
Thank you.

Sat Oct 27 16:12:32 CEST 2012: Failed to parse auction! Bad return result from auction server.
Like I mentioned before not a single non PayPal auction works with the current version. Yesterday even some auctions with PayPal didn't work, strangely enough some of the same seller did and some didn't. Couldn't make out a difference. Will keep you posted. Thanks for looking into that problem!
39 Posted by Yeti88 on 27 Oct, 2012 03:09 PM
Here's one with PayPal that won't work: 350630167240. Most of this seller's other auctions I can add to JBidwatcher with no problem at all. Up until a couple days ago I never experienced any problems with this particular seller. Very strange...
Hang on...
Tried some of this seller's other auctions as I was typing the above, now I can't even get any of the many auctions that worked before to show up in JBidwatcher. :-(
Things are getting worse and worse...
BTW: Not only can't I add these auctions to JBidwatcher I'm also being logged out from eBay, at least the user name in the upper right hand corner gets striked through. Hope that helps...

The one I posted yesterday started to work today, along with 5 others that were "FP" no image, something not right in seller column.
Not sure why it would "fix itself" some hours later.
Support Staff 41 Posted by cyberfox on 29 Oct, 2012 04:48 AM
Greetings,
@mutron3k - Because eBay operates on a 'rolling deploy' basis; they deploy
10% of machines with a new version, see how they behave, how folks use
them, if it affects purchasing, etc., and then roll out to 25%, 50%, 75%,
and 90% over the rest of the week. At least they did something similar to
that a bunch of years ago.
So a few hours prior, you may have gotten a 10% server with a new version,
new pages, etc., and then after a cookie refresh, or something similar, you
got onto a set of servers (the 90% that hadn't been deployed to yet) that
were showing the slightly older pages.
I'm working on fixing a few parsing problems, but my existing code is so
dense with 12 years of eBay changes that I'm very near to throwing out the
auction parsing code, putting out a version that works for all the auctions
I can straightforwardly test, and have folks report errors with odd listing
types to me so I can fix them.
There's code in there for eBay formats that almost certainly never happen
anymore, several technology revisions ago, and unfortunately it's hard to
know which ones are which. Thus my idea of starting fresh...
We'll see...

Hi Morgan,
I also do believe a fresh start is the best you can do given the many patches and fixes to make older eBay changes work. Happy to hear that you're working on a new version! Will of course help to identify bugs as they come along...
Good luck and let's get JBidwatcher working again! Maybe even better than before. ;-)

Greetings,
This isn't an 'official' release, it's a pre-release to see if it correctly fixes the problem with eBay parsing...
Mac
Windows (standalone, not an installer so save the executable someplace)
Linux
I haven't tested this extensively, except to determine that it fixes some parsing problems, and the startup problems on Oracle Java.
Please let me know if you run into any issues! This is doubly important, because I want to shift to releasing this as soon as possible, but I need positive or negative feedback quickly!
Thanks muchly, and best of luck with your auctions!
-- Morgan Schweers, CyberFOX!
p.s. There's a still-outstanding problem with non-paypal auctions on non-US sites not showing up; I've determined what's wrong, but haven't written up a fix for it yet.

Hi Morgan,
first test on mac OS 10.6.8/Java 1.6.0-35:
program is starting, getting sign-in cookie and then gets stuck while trying to update the first auction. Continuous result in errors log:
Mon Nov 12 03:26:07 CET 2012: Parsing URL http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370680821495
Mon Nov 12 03:26:07 CET 2012: Parsing URL http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370680821495
Mon Nov 12 03:26:08 CET 2012: Serious error, consider dying.
org/jsoup/Jsoup
btw., i'd be more then grateful if you'd find time to fix the non-paypal bug, i can live pretty well with the FP thing, but this one is killing me ;-)
and: thanks for the bunch of time and effort you must have put into this so far !
cheers

Hi Morgan,
so good to hear your focussed on it!
I did run the new pre under
W7/64
Java 6.0.301.5
(thats the version of java.exe. If any other versionnumber is needeed, lezt me know. Noob Ralf talking ;-))
I had the same issues than with the last stable version.. Todays log is attached.
It did not import 34 of 35 my ebay items. It did import this one, 300812114165, and it imported it not as FP but regular as it should do, even with propper bidcount.
Dear Morgan, I do hope I have been a tiny bit helpful and wish you all the luck in the world.
all the best
Ralf

Hi Morgan,
as someone said in the forum that V.2.5.0 is still working for him: would you mind to provide a link to the old version just for testing reasons and maybe as a possible workaround ?

Workign great here! (pre2, and -hidden but apparently the same- pre3 too)
Windows 7
Java Version 6 Update 35
Using ebay.es working good. Same article NOT working with "normal" jbidwatcher download.
First, installed "normal" version, and then, executed 2.5.3 pre2.
The app readed the installed normal version configuration, and got working well.
Great!
Support Staff 48 Posted by cyberfox on 26 Nov, 2012 07:43 AM
Greetings,
2.5.3pre3 is not _quite_ the same as 2.5.2. I removed the concept of a
'backup server' entirely, and now item loading, bidding, etc., all happens
on either ebay.com or ebay.co.uk, chosen by a checkbox in the eBay
configuration in JBidwatcher's configuration manger. It defaults to
ebay.com if your locale is US, Canada, or not given. Everybody else
defaults to ebay.co.uk. I do this because eBay has an unpleasant habit of
hiding items (that are perfectly valid, but don't accept PayPal payments)
from the ebay.com (US) site. I used to detect this on ebay.com and fail
over to use ebay.co.uk only in the circumstances where it was necessary,
but eBay turned off my ability to detect it, so now you have to choose (or
let JBidwatcher choose) via which of those two servers to bid/get
items/etc...
(To be clear, JBidwatcher still supports the same number of sites as it
used to, and in fact virtually nothing external has changed. All items
are, as always, handled by bidding on one of the main sites which contain
all items for all sites.)
I've tweaked a few more things, nothing major, and will be trying to push
an 'unstable' build soon, as that might get more attention than the
occasional pre-releases I've been pushing up here.

The version 2.5.3 which you released two days ago still didnt fix the problem of not being able to add some non-paypal auctions like this one for example:
